Sonnet 1 Poem by mmm nababana

Sonnet 1

So many have seen this beauty and yet
To my eyes it did not at first appear
Time alone changed impression early set
Imperceptibly slow, year after year

Something more is there than others first see
These do never stop long enough to learn
The passion and love and uncertainty
That just beneath the surface burn

So they depart, having looked but not known
To other beauties more easily swayed
They miss what's there, but not readily shown
Respect alone is with her trust repaid

Though water's surface with shine appeals,
More beauty's in depth that surface conceals.
