Sonnet 16: How Can Anybody Say I Don’t Love Thee? Poem by David Wood

Sonnet 16: How Can Anybody Say I Don’t Love Thee?

Rating: 4.8

How can anybody say I don’t love thee?
When I bring fresh flowers to my sweet love
Or hold your hand when you are out with me
And coo in your ear like a Turtle Dove.
You have always been my heart’s desire
From that first day when we came together.
You gave me the hope that did inspire
To be the man to cope with whatever.
My only hope is that with me you’ll remain
And no other will steal away your heart,
For it is your love that keeps this heart sane,
And for your love I will play cupids part.
In love there can be no hate in thy mind,
Those who cannot see we’re in love are blind.

Love is so tricky to describe - it is a sweet yet painful ecstasy, one moment lifting you high, higher than you've ever been, the next flinging you to your knees.....it enslaves us but how wonderful to be enslaved :)
