Soul Dancer Poem by Nell Sheridan

Soul Dancer

Rating: 5.0

Her inspiration burns within, assuming movements of foreign characteristics, as she presents oneself,
Armed with imagination and determination, her performance is aimed chiefly at herself,
Slowly and deliberately she will ensue her goal, warming the audience in her embrace,
Her thoughts and fears, her inadequacies she will for this interim, purposely misplace,
Eyes closed, the rhythm reaches her captive soul, the music soothing her troubled mind,
Performing her piéce dé résistance, her emulation and discipline, at this moment, completely refined,
Relaxed appears her persona, an elegant composure, fit to rival the divine,
Silently she speaks to all that wish to heed her, apprehension achieved by only the supine,
Effortlessly inspiring this performance, attaining adoration and deserved recognition from devotees,
She renders her admirers speechless, displaying precise, extreme and prolonged expertise,
Capturing hearts, she entwines herself in the rhythm, moving as one with a single purpose,
Eloquently beautiful, moving rhythmically, facing her judges yet remaining gracious,
She has reached the end, she has managed to free her soul, even if only for an instant,
Never before have I witnessed, something quite so incredibly exquisite, yet powerfully poignant.

Eloquently beautiful, moving rhythmically, facing her judges yet remaining gracious, She has reached the end, she has managed to free her soul, even if only for an instant. Forgetting oneself in dance, in the art that she performs and remaining always so gracious. thank you. tony
