Spawning Salmon Poem by Mark Heathcote

Spawning Salmon

The sun of love
…In the life of a star
I have kissed.

With two burnished tulip lips,
Like two brass plates,
With names and faces rubbed off…
I have pressed forwards

With a fishtail tongue rooted up-river
Like a spawning rainbow salmon,
Whose life shall be retracted?
As soon as it falls, back…

(From whence it first, salivated, its dream.)

The sun of love
…In the life of a star
From; egg sack too,
I've been kissed.
