Speak Greek Poem by John Zeller

Speak Greek

Rating: 3.5

I don't speak sewer rat, stray cat
or gerbil just the same
a parrot tried teaching me Russian
his efforts all in vein
I talked to a turtle once
he spoke fluent English
bartered with me for worms
cussed me in broken Yiddish
A bilingual monkey
sat next to me on a bus
he said women like French
so French is a must
So what's all this hype
over what to speak
I'll just take my chances
and stick to simple Greek
