Spirits You Are Light Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Spirits You Are Light

Spirits you are light
The wine of the looking at
The stars.
Night is your kingdom
The wine your delicate
Repose.
The sea your viewed
Grandeur.
The scent of dreaming flowers
In the night airs
Your heaving of the breast
In glory and in pride.
The blessings of the kingdom
Of the ever-increasing heavens
These
These are the birds of plumes
That you transform in:
You smile but not laugh
You speak, but slow,
You whisper too.
In your whispers
Is the glory of your wreaths
The beauty of your whispers
The quiet of your thought
Thinking loud in the
Brain
But and yet
Silent outside that be
No outside
For in the brain is as be
Not in it: the brain
Perceives the All, perceives
In detail and in specificity.
Desires are propense to
Blindness
Where Spirits be.
The ever-increasing hand
Becomes taller and
Taller
As it writes on the wall
The tunnels of ages
The scream of motion trains
Passing in tunnels.
The drear of wintry days
Hidden behind blue-veined
Curtains dropped
From the immensities of the
Heavens ever-growing.
From one style to the other
We veer and experiment.
But now listen!
We cease. Hear!Here.
