Sportsmanship Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Sportsmanship

Established is the competition.
Whether in religion, politics...
Or in the keeping of a division,
Between races to ensure this activity stays.
To promote a democracy that markets,
A variety of ways...
That benefits the nonstop flow,
Of dollars to pocket.
And not a quality of life.
Enhanced to recognize to live it right.
This necessity is more an ideal.
And appeals to a philosophy.
But does not attract,
What keeps people addicted.

Yet...
Sportsmanship is respected more.
When games are played and this expected.
But ignored to explore it,
As a part of life.
Most human beings seem to be lost,
To hypocrisy and the paying its cost.

Although,
Diversity to observe and witness...
Is less a marketing ploy to advertise.
Subtle are kept the effects done to show,
By those who reep the benefits from this.
And less reluctant they are to say,
How stupid others remain to stay...
Believing to perceive,
They can exist independently...
Without diversity in their lives.
To not know who provides,
What they take for granted.
As if racism and bigotry,
Will sustain them and survive.

"Uh...
I thought your topic was about sportsmanship.
Played in games to maintain and keep respect? "

It is!
Which aspect of life,
Would you like details.
Done to do and with specifics.
