Stand Tall Or Fall Short Poem by Feyisayo Anjorin

Stand Tall Or Fall Short

Gathered the strength for years,
The strength to stand tall.
Ruled my fears for years,
Saved my eyes from tears.

Then the strength of long years,
Like the sum of my life’s fears,
Came with the power of countless horses,
With the suddenness of invading forces,
To force me to change my choices.

I choose to stand tall.
I’ve seen what I’m looking for,
In a distance, but with outstanding appeal,
In an instance I’ll be savouring the taste,
I’ll never lose to the seductions of haste,
I’ll wait.
I know what I’m waiting for,
I choose to never fall
