Strong Cider Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Strong Cider

a) - there is a bout
of the strong cider
in the eyes of
lynx.
Waters must wait
Before
They dazzle in the
Eyes of the lynx.
I assert this
Before
More thoughts
Crowd on me.
I must not be
Overcrowded.
There is a scent
Of mariners in the verse.
Yes
Yes there be.
b) -church whose bells
rung with the
dawn
do you not
ring now?
Has the sun faded
You?
Tired you?
You stretch as the lynx
On plain flat sterile
Rock
And the sea rustles.
c) -chapel whose
ringing of the bells
be in
the extremities of day
waters sacred
staying in between
nobility in all places
yes
even at the extremities!
d) -city that slept
profound to-night
he left the shoes
behind
shoes not
assembled
separate
and blood and body
lying
not afar
no
not afar
e) -do not forget
do not forget
no coffin for
me?
Pauper's coffin?
I have suspended Immortality
Do not forget
Do not forget.
f) -waters that eddy
and
tides
and caverns and
coves
that to each other
call
reciprocity of things
new fraternity
that was of ancient centuries
and millennia so.
g) -I heard the cuckoo call
and I stood silent
more silent
not speaking to myself
ceasing.
