Stubborn Heart Poem by Elizabeth Gaytan

Stubborn Heart

You stubborn heart, I told you not to fall in love.
You knew the consenquences of the game,
but you still played along.

You knew the rules and you broke then one by one.
And now you sit here and let the torns cut you up.

You stubborn heart, I told you the game would be hard to play.
But you still decided to give in and fall in love again.

You stubborn heart, I told you that he can never feel the same
But you still went along and played with him this game.
Because you mean nothing to him, you are just a pass time.
Another meaningless voice that pases through his life.

You stubborn heart, why didn't you listen to me
when I told you, he wasn't yours to keep.

How I wish I listened to my mind and not to my heart,
that now I sit here broken minded and with a broken heart.

To a love that I can never have because
I was a lost game that he held in his hand.
