Like a summer rain she fell
That hot September hour
And caught unawares he was drenched,
He lost all power
Of thinking clearly, went giddy,
Shook -
Shaking within him the citadel of equanimity
To a rubble.
'I would go
Through a hundred times as strong rain,
A thousand times such trouble
(She was uncommon) ,
If over the ruins of my equanimity
She will build a new strength
Of love, or she is no woman! '
