Sunday, The Lord's Day Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Sunday, The Lord's Day

Rating: 5.0

Sunday, the Lord's Day

the sun shines kindly and abundantly,
the morning is pleasant in this soft light,
enjoying the day that will bring me yet another blessing,

the flowers come out of their buds,
this garden in full bloom,
my heart wants to say something
hurry up!

Tears fall down my cheeks,
I crave so much,
I realize I'm here
in my garden full of bloom,
what is not visible,

is also in bloom
what I can't see
but it keeps on glowing,
the bullets and the bombs are firing on Ukraine,
the inhabitants pass under it
like we've all never seen,

Ukraine, Ukraine,
I need to see you, I need to see this
while I enjoy all this bloom,
this at the same time in Ukraine

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Putin is still bombing Ukraine, President Zelensky is still in Kiev, in his home, and he is supporting his own people as the greatest, we have many refugees from Ukraine constantly coming here and we give them shelter and all things for life, too sad to mention each detail. Thank you so much for reading

A beautiful poem that aptly captures the horror of war but gives a message of hope and resilience in the toughest of situations.
