Taken Away Poem by Samantha McKinnon

Taken Away

The dew under her eyes was swept away
As his beautiful darkness consumed her.
The heat of their words was now nothing
But a dot on her broad, scarred heart.
A graceful ice skater,
He jumps and dives into her mind. But,
They were never quite in tune
Until she realized
She needed to be brave
And love him the same.
So she handed him the key
To her happiness and sanity.
But time had taken him from her.
The bell should've tolled for her that day
For while she continued to age,
She never quite learned to live again.
