Taken By The Highlander Poem by Asma Khan

Taken By The Highlander

The river speaks to me
in the silence of mercury dreams
falling across the undue moments
of a long wait

The wild morning breeze
swayed crystals of memories
on the sandy palm beaches
in the heart of the sunless shines

The unruly roaring clouds of conscious
stirred hopes in diamond drops
over the unplanted promises
in unsaid, unheard words

The defeated lands of
never existed mysteries
unfolded cold wars
in the golden sands of
sunless days

The broken mirrors portrayed
living misfortunes of ever lived
dynasties past burned castles
of ruins and bygones.

The dreamer's eyes weaved me
with lasting magic of unsaid
words that left no imagination
read, no words heard
