Tearful Mothers! Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Tearful Mothers!

I shed tears for the mothers
Who have borne sons to fight than to flight
and march ahead to be burnt by the raining bombs
for earning wages and posthumous medals
but swearing love for their nation.

I shed tears for the wombs
which carried these mindless suicide bombers
who do not think that their Almighty
never wants the sacrifice of their lives
but a change of mind
to fit into this secular modern world.
I shed tears for the weeping mothers
who cry for medicine for their injured kids
being caught between two teams of beasts
which maim universal values
of keeping people of all races together.

I shed tears for the unfortunate mothers
who bore Bush, Blair and Saddham.
The first two aggressors don’t have respect
for the World Body and justify the killing
of innocent people to drive out a dictator.
And the third shouts holy war
to lure the religious diehards,
assuring them places in unseen heaven
while reserving the royal palace for himself on the earth.

The mothers who deliver
maladies afflicting the people
need no praise.
