Thank You So Much My Lord Poem by Dipankar Sadhukhan

Thank You So Much My Lord

Rating: 4.9

My grandparents had five sons
And seven daughters.
I am the elder son of their elder son.
So everybody would love me so much.
I would spend hours in joy in my childhood.
Everyone wanted to have me every time
And sometimes they would fight
Against one another for that purpose.

At one winter noon one of my uncles
Took me and went to a pond
For having bath.
He was swimming in the pond
And I felt so happy
When I enfolded his neck.
After having bath I stood
On the stair by the pond.

The pond was the perfect place
To share and gossip with one another.
The stairs by the pond were then so crowded.
When I was waiting on the stair for my uncle,
Someone pushed me unknowingly
And I fell into the water of the pond.
I got drowned as then I was only five years old
And could not know how to swim.

I was trying to breathe
So that I might live.
I was compelled to drink
A little quantity of water.
I thought I'd die without breathing.
Oh, how much I suffered!
I felt the agony of suffocating.
I was almost choked to death.

Suddenly a boy five years older than me
Shouted loudly when he touched me by chance
At the bottom of the pond.
Then in a festive mood
Everyone tried to find me out
And finally I was rescued
From the bottom of the pond.
All were curious to know how I got drowned.

I will never forget
The suffocating moments.
Even now sometimes
I feel the agony of suffocating.
I am ever grateful to the boy
Who saved my life like the Almighty.
Thank you so much my Lord
For giving me the opportunity
To spend years on this blissful earth.

Going through your poem I knew your sad story that you were drowning in the pond. It was the boy on behalf of God saved your life. You have so nicely depicted the event of your life at early age. Thanks for sharing this poem with us.
