When the Banner Knight would close his eyes, he'd see a million faces,
of all the men that he had killed, men of many races.
And more faces, he did see, when fast asleep in bed,
of all the sinners in the world, that by his axe lay dead.
But he made a vow to heaven, to send evil men to hell.
And through his life he kept this vow, he kept it very well.
Being haunted by these memories, would drive lesser men insane,
But the Banner Knight was not so weak, he of harder mien.
For when he'd open up his eyes and when he would awake,
He'd soon forget the memories that killing men can make.
He'd see the happy faces, he'd see guiltless families thrive,
He'd see the faces of women and children, safe, and very much alive.
The many times he'd take his sword and kill those evil men,
Twas to protect the weaker souls, their lives he did defend.
