The Best Lovers Poem by Juan Olivarez

The Best Lovers

Rating: 5.0

A grasshopper found his brother in the grass,
Roasted, toasted, and burned to a crisp.
he said, 'thought she was a firefly, a dainty lass,
I saw trailing smoke but only a wisp.'

'Fireflies are the best lovers, ' you always said,
So I hid in that clearing, waiting for one.
Don't think bad of me, I ain't no cad,
All I wanted tonight was to have some fun.

So when I saw the light flying overhead,
I jumped up high and grabbed her tight.
now look at me I'm almost dead,
Twas a cigarrette butt, I saw in flight.

Is this akin to when your doing 120 and the cigarette tip falls between your legs. Either way, your gonna get burnt. Great write, made me laugh.

Didn't expect it to end that way. Which is a surprised and it was a lovely read.

Brilliant write, so much trouble you were in just having fun, those little white demons do so much damage one way or the other. clever poem.

O poor you Juan, how to get your fingers burnt, and disappointed in the process. Very imaginative and amusing write.
