One glorious day
That surfaces but once a year
And draws your mind to the fact that you are a real dear
A true Godsend
A gift He gave with no prerequisite for pay

A day of reflections
Of the Maker’s daily mercies and grace
Which took you through one whole phase
A full year of topsy-turvy activities
That are but an iota in the Potter’s master plan

The day when the sun’s radiance
Is the first thing that touches on your face in the morning
And draws up a smile of unadulterated magnificence
One that can never be replicated on any day of the year
A smile like no other for it portrays God’s shining

All through the day joy bursts forth
From the very depths of your heart
In praise of what the Lord has done from the start
Even unto this time forth
For the Lord, mighty and great is good

So on this bright and sunny day
Your friends and family stand together
And sing in unison that which is sung but once a year
