The Cannibals' Party Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

The Cannibals' Party

Rating: 4.0

The Jungle Drums were calling,
Throughout the forest dense,
To invite me to the party,
Could I afford to take the chance?

It might be my last party,
What was the food to be?
Who were the party givers?
Was the food to be ~ just me?

I had been told to beware of strangers,
Could I afford to take the chance?
Would I be alive in the morning?
Or be partnered in the last dance?

The rhythm was getting stronger,
Faster did beat the drums,
Should I go a little faster?
Or should I turn and run?

The Pygmies were a-eating,
Fruit and Vegetables, you see,
Rumours of them being Cannibals,
Was to keep away ~ you and me.
