The Choice Poem by Panda Broussard

The Choice

To say sorry would be so lame,
To say goodbye would cause more pain.

To be empty and completely numb,
Would be so easy and yet so dumb.

Selfish desire to disappear,
Creeps up daily, in fact, it's too near.

Stay strong do not let go,
Be this, be that, pushes hard, becomes woe.

Do they know, can they even see,
How this life is slowly killing thee?

No breath no movement, oh yes,
But at what cost?

To torture minds remaining,
Forever left contemplating.

Eagerness to please,
Will not allow the choice to be.

Painful and willful smiles,
Are forced again, at least for awhile.
