The Colour Of Your Eyes Poem by Gert Strydom

The Colour Of Your Eyes

The colour of your eyes, the glow of your cheeks,
unloosen beautiful memories in me
and I remember our years together,
Darling-Doll, for me your lovely pet name
and red arum lilies that I give to you to plant

but for the virus I remain very cautious
and I remember you feeding me grapes from a bunch,
how you did eat a few and looked so loving and helpful.
The colour of your eyes,

is green with pain and what goes with this can cost your life,
is golden like sunshine when happily you do bring order to chaos,
is green-brown like the earth when you feel helpful
and your character and whole frame of mind assent to
the colour of your eyes.
