The Dance of Destiny Poem by Hanane Aad

The Dance of Destiny

I threw my memory into the planet
its cry crept back to my ears as silence
resounding till it pained me.
My memory, you, myself
who committed suicide by light,
my life, racing away fleet of foot.
My memory,
I will remember you,
pray for you,
recreate your image,
hang it from my eyelashes
in front of destiny
which waltzes over my eyelids.

Translated by the authoress and John Wilmot
