The Darkness Poem by Noah Body

The Darkness

The darkness pulsates to the beat
But it doesn't hold an ounce of heat

Thick and black it kills the light
It halts your ability of sight

So thick you could cut it with a knife
Inside it everything is filled with strife

The blackest despair will fill your heart
Once inside it will tear you apart

All sense of hope will pass away
Not a hope of hope for this day

Loneliness on your soul will gnaw
Not a single soul on which to call

Self despite will fill your head
Until you believe you're better off dead

It hides a bottomless evil pit
Pray that you don't fall into it

But for naught will all your prayers be
Watch or it'll grab you like it did me

It'll suck you down and further down
Till there's no hope of light around

There is no escape from that pit
You will never climb out of it

Down and down and down again will you go
Not a candle's light will you ever know

The land of the dark is full of such traps
From it's grip no one ever just snaps

Pray that you will never end up there
Where there is no light and rank is the air

For if you do and now don't you scoff
The only answer is to blow your head off
