The Day I Listened To God Poem by Paula Glynn

The Day I Listened To God

Just sitting in the cosy armchair
Watching the predictable television
That greets my lonely eyes
My life utterly unfair
My life in which no one cares

Suddenly soothing white light
Twinkles like the sky above
A holy angel sent from God
Giving me a gift from above
Showing me romantic love

Where angels roam heaven
Where the soft fragrance of heaven
Replaces the stink of hell
A place I once knew well
Those days a never ending spell

But now given a magical gift
To celebrate colourful life
That is all too swift
But angels treasure this life
And release the hurt into the ether

The torture and pain
Never appealing again
Because now all I want is love
When push comes to shove
My heart with a soul deep love

I wander in God's paradise
I smell the pretty flowers
The wonderful seas and oceans
The amazing waterfalls and forests
The whole earth full of life

Where angels heal those in pain
And make the mad sane
God's love like a sail
That keeps our head above water
And cleanses our souls of hate

Where to each other
We all look to within and relate
And make the effort to communicate
Our thoughts, complex emotions
Fantastic ideas and incredible imaginations

Because this earth is our home
Where angels happily roam
Working to forever heal
Smiling in a world made of stone
For even the weak can come home.
