The Death Of A Single Tree Poem by Mark Heathcote

The Death Of A Single Tree

The death of a single tree saddens me
oak, yew, pine or ash, Dutch elm disease
sadly has killed off some 60 million trees
deforestation the0death-of honeybees
it all deeply quietly saddens me.

Then there's this Horse chestnut canker
and Horse chestnut leaf miner
once it starts, they'll never leaseback
another spring season; green in leaf
126 million trees are at risk of ash dieback:

Then there's this acute oak decline
it's hardly a laughing matter-folks
if truly you care for British oaks.
The world is doing a trapeze act
'what can you do to lessen the impact? '
