The Effect You Have On Me Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Effect You Have On Me

What will it take to make you smile?
How can I make you grin?
The sadness that has befallen you
is the worst it's ever been.

We've been through bad times now and then
when tears came falling down.
But usually they don't last this long.
These tears will make us drown.

Let me wipe them all away
and hold you until they dry.
To see you when you get like this
is enough to make me cry.

Now take some breaths and look at me.
I'll take your gloom away.
I'll tickle your chin, do a handstand
or anything you say.

Just give me a smile to see again
and tell me you're okay.
For when you're sad, then I'm no good
and I can't live this way.
