The First Case Of Polio In Malaysia After 27 Years Poem by Daya Nandan

After 27 years of being Polio free,
The reemergence of the Polio virus is here for our children to see,
A recipe of third class mentality, pure ignorance and stupidity,
Has given life to a pathogen to cause morbidity and mortality,

There is no cure for polio, but it is preventable through vaccination,
Only supportive measures that can help the infected of a nation,
Children were on life long ventilators because of Polio before,
Losing their ability to walk and stand on the floor,

Ignorance and poor understanding of the importance of vaccination,
Has lead to the first case of polio within our beloved nation,
It is not too late to learn and take matters in our hand,
So lets vaccinate our young to save our Malaysian land.

I hope my poem educates and empowers the parents of today,
So that the dangers of Polio will not be here to stay,
I pray that our patriotism and love for Malaysia and our future generation,
Will become the driving force to eradicate Polio from our beloved nation!
