Every day I watched,
As they disappeared
Through the well tapered
Herbaceous hedge.
Waited endlessly, full of envy.
“Don’t worry my dear,
Your day will come soon”
Alone in my sulking base
“Soon! How soon is soon?
Being the youngest is just no fun”.
“Shhh” Someone called! !
.
“I will take you through
The hedge today”
Yippee!
I skipped along the forbidden path
My little heart pounding with joy.
A little apprehensive!
Wow! There it was.
Awesome
Entrancing!
Bewitching!
Alone now, thinking, could this be the
‘Heaven’ in my book?
Bubbles floating
Around my face
Moving about effortlessly.
Bobbing up and down
Now I am sure, it is
The heaven in my book!
Out of the blue
A huge hand pulled me up
Out of my ‘dream’,
Held me tightly.
My posterior became a drum
With each syllable of prayer.
The squelching ….
The backing track!
Or was it a nightmare? ? ?
!
