The Greatest Gift Poem by Alex Fischer

The Greatest Gift

The greatest gift that I have
Is not a material good
It is not a resource or an object
It is not a thing you can buy or make

The greatest gift I have
Is not an idea
It is not a dream or a fantasy
It is not a story or a tall tale

The greatest gift I have
Is not one of any skill
It is not my ability to write in verse
It is not my ability to make music

The greatest gift I have
Is a treasure beyond treasures
It is a precious jewel in a pile of lard yet untarnished
It is a winning ticket in the lottery

The greatest gift I have
Is you— my one true love
