The Hanging Of Mister Jones Poem by Dorsey Baker

The Hanging Of Mister Jones

Rating: 3.5

We are going to have to hang you
mister Jones
We don't really like
doing this kind of thing
but we have to
because you are
one of the guilty ones
You know you wouldn't
be standing here
if you were really
an innocent man
you confessed
and admitted
that you killed someone
you killed them
by your own hand
you told them the truth
just like your mama
always told you to do
and you couldn't have lied
and that is why
we are hanging you
the judge and jury they said
this is where you should be
a crowd
of people standing around
watching you
and in their eyes
no pity
its hard to think
that is the last sight
you will ever see!
