The Infected Rose Poem by Dipankar Sadhukhan

The Infected Rose

Rating: 5.0

Few days ago I saw a girl crying and crying.
I said, 'Why are you crying, dear? '
She said, 'I had a dream to soar
In the boundless sky
But my dream was blown into pieces.'

I said, ' My dear! how? '
She said, 'Like a new bloomed rose
I expanded my petals with sweet fragrance.
Then last night...'
I said, 'What happened last night? '

The girl said, 'A storm arose
And everything was about to be destroyed.
Like a shelterless insect a boy cried-
'Save me, save me, please save me.
I've lost my way in this stormy dark night.' '

I said, 'Then....? '
She said ruefully, 'My heart cried for him.
He was then afraid and shivering.
I called him to rest in the soft bed
Of my fragrant petals soaked in honey.'

I said, 'Dear! what happened then? '
She said, 'I woke in the next morning.
Then I saw- 'My petals are half torn;
My bed looks like a corspe bed
And now I have been an infected rose.'
