The Insecure Entity Within Poem by Dave Tendell

The Insecure Entity Within

Quivering sweat pours from my young, but continuously aging brow.
Reeking salt covered shimmering ice pellets fall from my human-like skin,
Everyone watches me… the lame peculiarity before them from eyes that seem to be situated on the flipside of their cloned heads.

Everyone’s good will continues to devastate the insecure entity within.
Helping hands are often extended that impose charitable deeds that unknowing to them hurt like an excruciating overexposed nerve.
A smile exist on my outer layer,
While deep within; tears devour my decomposing soul.
Some want me to fit like a puzzle in their world.
Others just want to catch a glimpse and add to my despair.
Sadly, my contour is distorted with no place in their puzzle.
The humiliation will never cease until their brutal sorrow subsides.
Someday mercy will come in the form of a fading heart beat.
Although it would seem to be my day,
It will be their day to shed unfounded tears to steal my lifeless soul.
Still… Often I pray for mercy, but mercy never comes.
