The Island Of Fuerteventura Poem by Annette Aitken

The Island Of Fuerteventura

Rating: 5.0

Island

Sitting watching the waves crash against the rocks
where the sea greets the land.
The water exploring every nook and cranny
kissing and embracing the rocks violently.

Head swirling with thoughts of one day returning
to set up life on this barren yet beautiful Island
with its rocky cliff tops, desert sands.
Unforgiving mountains once covered with raging lava.

Wild chipmunks living amidst the blackened boulders
where locals and holidaymakers feed them freely.
Fishermen perched precociously on the ragged rocks
dipping their fishing lines in the deep hoping to catch dinner.

All walks of life running or walking along the cliff path
exercising, keeping their bodies in good shape
Some are young and beautiful,
others with skin like leather from the sun.

Life on the Island can be peaceful and tranquil
if that's what you're looking for.

When you are provoking an angry and dangerous person, this is an example of a situation where you are precariously close to danger...........WELL, NOW I'M NOT SURE! now i'm inclined to agree with precociously. :) :) but, you're the boss! bri :) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

You capture the character of the island with panache as you express vividly the landscape and the people! Beautiful write!
