The mermaid slowly sinks into the deep,
Down, down, in darkest depths her abode lay;
Her secrets do the endless fathoms keep.
Her mem'ries of the storm-whipped waves so steep
Resting upon the one who'd lost his way,
The mermaid slowly sinks into the deep.
His ship from crest to crest appeared to leap
So randomly, and spinning seemed to play;
Her secrets do the endless fathoms keep.
When ev'ry seam strain'd, letting water seep
He looked into her eyes, cried 'Help me, pray! '
The mermaid slowly sinks into the deep.
And finally giving out, the shattered heap
Of splintered wood is washed into a bay;
Her secrets do the endless fathoms keep.
Mourning his fleeting love she'll ever weep;
His mortal figure, earthbound, could not stay.
The mermaid slowly sinks into the deep
Her secrets do the endless fathoms keep.
