The Message Poem by Joe Fraccalvieri

The Message

He had another busy day…
Doing God's Work--
having so little time to play

Alone on the swing
as his love for life grew…
But what would it bring?
These times were too few!

But after a while--
after putting his toys away,
he lay silent in his bed--
his thoughts racing through his head,
keeping any stray noise at bay

There was one more thing
he decided to do--
for all the joys that came his way--
before clasping his hands to pray--
before he made a man from clay…

He started to smile--
a smile as bright as the light
of the sun's burning ray--
where the darkest of darkness
couldn't possibly stay

He placed a message in a bottle--
tossed it out to the sea…
Knowing that someday
someone would find it…
That someone--
would be me!

You see… The bottle is the soul--
existing as part of the whole…
The sea is the fullness of Humanity--
emerging from an earthly shoal--
converging upon heaven's eternity--
like diamonds created from coal!

And the message… The word:
LOVE, …
To me, by itself, it seemed odd

It wasn't until near the end that I noticed…
The message was signed, simply--
GOD
