The Missing Piece Poem by Kim Davies

The Missing Piece

'Twas a whole thing,
Complete in its own right,
Until…

Cut it up,
Take a piece,
Draw it, sketch it,
Paint it.
Done it?
Patch it up,
Piece it back together.

Oops, something amiss,
What is this?
A gap, a space,
A hole?
Where can it be,
The missing piece?

Away from the whole,
Out on its own,
The missing piece,
Gained independence,
Confidence.
Completeness.
Not coming home,
Now going it alone.

'Tis a whole thing,
Complete in its own right.
