The Mountain Poem by Deepak Calyampoondi

The Mountain

Ages have passed by me,
and people come to see me,
I give refuge to animal life,
Yet i am alone, standing still in my life.

People come for a vacation,
perhaps to celebrate an occasion.
Some climb to my summit,
not knowing i will never submit,
They feel they have conquered,
they don't know i never surrender,
for i stand, alone and high,
sometimes i'm bored and do sigh.

Many treasures are stored within,
people come to me and dig a mine,
Gold, diamonds are in their mind,
but what about me do they mind?

The clouds are my friends,
just passing by,
often friends have to part,
the strong winds drift us apart.

What am i to do, people do not see,
for i am filled with many emotions,
just inside me.
