The New Light Poem by Natasha Dowdy

The New Light

He is sleeping tonight, a peacefulness engulfed dream scape.
Yet you are awake, in a tyrant outburst of feverish hate.
He lies here, silent, not even his breath is heard.
There you are, sobbing, and no one cares to hear your word.
His day has ended, a new one awaits him at dawns break.
But you are unsure, will you ever see the sunlight again?
What's really stopping you? Why not just take that blade across your wrist? Stop all this hurt tonight, it will all be better for all, in the new light.
