The night is arriving
with twilight and the lonesome evening star
accompanied by a yellow friendly moon
and soon it will be dark.
In the building across the street
hundreds of shining bright windows
are coming alight
welcoming the night
like jewels in a magnificent crown
and I hear the lifts going up and down
and wait on you
to bring life to the evening
with your arrival
just a little after eight
and the bottle of champagne
gleams in the ice bucket,
a single rose lays dark red
on the white table-cloth
and candles are twinkling
with a own romantic message
and still the room is empty without you.
