The Opposition. Poem by Valerie Chase

The Opposition.

Rating: 5.0

you're breathing deep -
it's time to sleep.
to tell your secrets that make you weep.
you flourish in the light
but fall apart in the midst of night,
and still decide to take another swig, to garnish another hope.
i'm sad for you.
you provoke.
selling your image to the public,
everyone but myself tries to love it.
you and i grit our teeth.
on the market for sale is your face
you should be so ashamed.
it depicts lies
it cries over and over.
only one person should feel sorry for you.
yourself.
