The Pain Of Forgetting Poem by Domenic Antonelli

The Pain Of Forgetting

Pain is a cruel thing, it can be enforced physically and mentally. The mental kind is the worst, at least when there is physical pain there is a time expectation for it to go away.
But mentally that is not the case, it is all about how mentally strong you are. Which I am not. I appear strong but am internally weak. I wish to live and forget but all I can do is live and remember. No one understands what I would give up to forget, to wipe my memory clean.
I would give up everything but that special person.
Which now places me in an endless paradox. Do I want to forget? Does me forgetting mean giving up my special one? Yes it does and i can't do that. I will go through the pain and I will suffer. I won't give you up no matter what. I have to remember everything even it tears me down to the smallest pieces. In case for that unrealistic day that you do come back and we can take off once more.
