The Past Is Us Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Past Is Us

The past is in us
It's our home
We go back to it again and again
And its not there-

Remembering hurts so much
For we are there again and yet not there-

How much and how many do I remember
No longer here,
Only there and not there?
