The Phone Call That Ruined The Day

The day was cool, the sun shining.
There was something I heard, kinda like a whining.
A sound from a lady so sudden so sound.
Not a good sound one that was like a soul crying for help.
I approached her slowly with caution and fear.
She said something’s missing something terrible I feel. I do not know what but will soon find out I need comfort, comfort and love.
I’m here. I said with a smile. We talked for a while got to know each other well she told me her name and I told her mine. we became good friends, very good friends.
We went back to our houses that night, but we met each other in the morning.
Her phone rang while we were eating breakfast, her face with fear, sadness, pain. The worst expressions I had ever seen.
She put the phone down and started to cry.
I asked what’s wrong, why all that fear in your eye?
My son was just killed. That’s all she had to say, she sat and cried until the day went away.
She told me the story later that day, of how her son was crossing the street and went the wrong way.
He got hit by a car, a red Chevrolet.
I sat there and held her with warmth close and tight, I sat and cried with her for she was my best friend.
