The Coast Guard Poem by laura D., 13

The Coast Guard

There was a man so small, so thin, but had powers that made him win. He was a US coast guard and did his job and after that he sat real strong.
He saves many lives night and day, but one he could just not say.
There was this time, he was on a ship, with no luck at all it took a flip.
He wished he could have saved not just 5 but 10. He only saved nine and for one…it was the end.
He was very upset that that man lost his life, but that is what he sees in his everyday life.
He was told one week later that the man was very ill with a painful sickness. If he did not die on that ship that day, quick and pain free he would of died in a very painful way, alone. But he was with his crew members and they managed to get his body. The man was relieved for if he survived he would have been in pain.
They had a funeral the next week, the coast guard was invited. The family went to thank him. He was very confused. He told them”there is no need to thank me that was God.”
The family and the cast guard became good friends and for years they exchanged wonderful memories, times, and bonds.
