The Poet As A Mad Man And Poetry His Madness Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

The Poet As A Mad Man And Poetry His Madness

The poet as a mad man
And poetry his madness,
The mad man maddening it all
With his mad things,
A mad man making mad
Madly after the things
In a mad-mad world.

There are two ways of seeing a poet's madness and I feel both are true of your poet. His sensitivity and depth make him aware of more than ordinary people perceive. Compared to them his greater insight sets him apart as if his difference was a flaw. That's one meaning. The other meaning comes from the MAD, MAD WORLD in which he lives. No one can be sane in such a world because it lacks a rational core. It's chaotic and bewildering. Not even a poet can make sense of it. But his wit and wisdom may save him from the madness that envelops him. We must have that much hope.
