I am the Poet of Today...
I can do no more: I am only a teller of tales,
a writer of poems, perhaps only a dreamer of reality,
always half-asleep, with inspiration revealing to me
only small epiphanies. And you, no doubt, are anxious
for some full, final wisdom.

sure, wisdom's always good. but first give me humanity, a good heart, something to bring out the best in me. after gaining facility in our craft, we can only be what we are, and i like what you are, brother daniel. -glen

This poem! A favorite amongst all other favorites. Outstanding! In its wisdom, simplicity, sensibility, form and message. May I say, Perfect!
This is marvelous! Every word, every line, The truth, your truth And probably other poets' truth. You describe it simply and beautifully How it is, How it happens How a poet simply, Is And always very open For there are no 'final wisdoms' Everything is relative and personal Especially in poetry. It's all in the transmission of feelings Much more than, facts.

Excellent poem, realism in poem makes it worthy of reading. Since time immemorial poets have written poems of their time and that force us to revisit those days to enjoy their writing, next generation will read our work for sure. Wisely thought poem.
