The Porch Poem by Lau Jane

The Porch

the boy sits on the porch and cries,
the sky is grey, it weeps inside,
the sky feels pain, the clouds are wet,
they see the boy, they show their respect.

No father in sight, the boy is left there,
no hugs, no tears, no last regrets.
Mother said 'he wont come back',
the boy has hope, the thunder cracked.

The sky turnes dark, the thunder roll's in,
the boy on the porch, he does not flinch
for days he wait's and hope holds dear,
close to his heart, no room for fear.

No father in sight, the mother has words,
not for the boy but he soon learns,
of pain and anger, that nurture his heart,
as he grows older, things will fall apart.

relationships will start on shady grounds,
the clouds will be there they will surround,
those the boy holds near, for they cant see,
the broken hearted boy on the porch, in disbelief.

back on that porch with no goodbye,
the tears stopped coming, they well inside,
the storm is brewing, the thunder is loud,
the storm will lessen, there will be no sound.

The boy is silenced the storm has gone,
the sun comes out, the porch is warm
The mother comes out and hugs the boy,
The father comes back, oh what joy.

Poetry seems to have been made to express the idea of loss, especially the loss of a loved one. Having the boy's emotions echo the disturbance in the weather works well here. Good work.
