The Proceedings Poem by Ernestine Northover

The Proceedings

Rating: 5.0

The Committee Members all sat down,
for the Annual General Meeting.
The Chairman stood up and asked if there.
was enough available seating.

He then asked Members were they ready,
to begin the proceedings or not,
Everybody declared that they were,
so he opened it dead on the dot.

Names of those present were written down,
and some apologies accepted.
Then minutes of the previous year,
were read out approved and corrected.

The Treasurer with a concerned face,
declared that they had no more money.
These dyer straights were met with sheer shock,
this situation wasn't funny.

The calling out for more funds did not,
go down well, with the rest of the room.
They thought they had given plenty of,
funds to date, this news was utter doom.

Where had it all gone, we've hardly used,
any of it they loudly did state.
With that the Treasurer then resigned,
but the row did not seem to abate.

Well more cash we'll need, the Chairman said,
if as a group we're to carry on.
We still have to pay up front for things,
we must inform our Trade Union.

The company all came to a hush,
such silence permeated the air.
To have to go to the Union,
this was so shaming and so unfair.

The atmosphere held major tension,
anger was raising its ugly head.
All were talking in furious tones,
flaming tempers were now being fed.

The gathering was then abandoned,
rule sheets were totally forgotten.
We might as well go home and accept,
this Society's downright rotten.

Oh dear! Here's hoping that you'll find so much money so heavy that you won't be able to budget! -chuck

Nicely put, where did it all go, I ask myself the same question, of course in my case I have only myself to blame
