The Promise Of The Spring Poem by Shalom Freedman

The Promise Of The Spring

THE PROMISE OF THE SPRING

The promise of the Spring
Of another day
So different from the rest
We dare not guess
Its Beauty now.

The promise of another world
Whose light has eyes we cannot yet bear.

The promise of what is beyond us forever
And lures us to it always
As if we are in essence
Beings of the great Unknown
Seeking ever
For the Star we will never see.
